MOE Mathematics Curriculum Framework

A pentagon-shaped diagram from the 2021 Singapore Primary Mathematics Syllabus (MOE, 2020) illustrating the five components of mathematical learning — Concepts, Skills, Processes, Metacognition, and Attitudes — all centred around Mathematical Problem Solving, with descriptors for each component around the diagram.

Our Math Curriculum

A curriculum progression chart showing the mathematics topics taught from Primary 1 to Primary 6 in Singapore schools. Topics build progressively across levels, starting with Whole Numbers, Measurement, Geometry, and Data Analysis, with Fractions introduced at Primary 2/3, Decimals at Primary 4, and Percentage, Ratio, and Speed added by Primary 5 and 6.

Our Key Programmes:

Two photos showing early primary students engaged in hands-on numeracy activities — one shows a bar graph made from coloured interlocking cubes and sticker charts on a whiteboard, and the other shows young students arranging craft sticks beside number cards showing 5 and 9.

LSM in Action – Students use manipulatives to strengthen numeracy skills.

Two primary school girls in yellow-and-white uniforms stand at a whiteboard covered in number grids written in coloured markers, presenting to their classmates — one holds a notebook while the other holds a marker.

Collaborative exploration of mathematical concepts in the E2K programme.

Primary school girls in yellow-and-white uniforms gather around a table, constructing 2D and 3D geometric shapes using colourful plastic sticks, guided by a teacher in the background.

Students reinforce their learning through games during recess.

A group of upper primary school girls in yellow-and-white uniforms sit around a round yellow table, each working on a laptop in what appears to be a computer lab or learning space.

Interactive learning on digital platforms.

Three photos showing primary school girls in yellow-and-white uniforms participating in a science or food activity, including observing coloured liquids in cups, operating a green shaved ice machine, and handling food items at a counter.

Applying Mathematics in real-world contexts – measuring to bake, counting money to buy things.

collage of four photos showing young primary school girls in yellow-and-white uniforms engaged in hands-on learning activities, including arranging coloured sticks on a blue mat, holding up orange paper circles, posing with a small LEGO construction, and smiling at the camera.

Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (C-P-A) Approach: Hands-on learning using concrete materials.

Two primary school girls in yellow-and-white uniforms sit side by side at a desk, working together on a worksheet with a coloured chart or graph.

Collaborative Peer Learning – Students worked together to solve problems.
